Theme 2026: Celebrating the Henley Royal Regatta

This year’s King’s Birthday Party takes its inspiration from the iconic Henley Royal Regatta.

A sporting tradition that blends athletic excellence, British elegance, and centuries‑old river heritage.

Held each summer since 1839 on the River Thames, Henley Royal Regatta is one of the highlights of the UK’s sporting and social calendar. It is known not only for world‑class rowing but also for its unique atmosphere: picnics by the river, striped blazers, straw boaters, and the unmistakable buzz of spectators cheering athletes along the historic course.

A Tradition of Annual Sporting Themes

Henley continues our series of British sporting icons featured at recent King’s Birthday Parties:

  • 2024: Wimbledon

  • 2025: Royal Ascot

  • 2026: Henley Royal Regatta

Each theme celebrates a different facet of British culture: from the elegance of the racecourse to the thrill of Wimbledon’s Centre Court, and now the charm and camaraderie of rowing on the Thames.

Bringing the River Thames to Switzerland

Guests can expect touches of classic Henley charm throughout the event: from the colour palette and décor to the relaxed, summery atmosphere associated with regatta season. Whether you’re a rowing enthusiast or simply enjoy a great British tradition, this year’s theme offers a vibrant, fun, and quintessentially UK experience.

Dress to Impress

Guests are invited to wear summer smart or garden party attire. For men, lightweight suits, blazers paired with chinos, or tailored separates are all appropriate. Shirts may be worn with or without a tie, depending on preference. For women, dresses, skirt or trouser suits, and refined separates are all suitable choices. Light fabrics, seasonal colours and tasteful patterns are ideal.

Classic patterns such as stripes, subtle checks or pastels work particularly well. Given the outdoor setting, guests may wish to consider footwear appropriate for lawns or gravel paths. Hats and fascinators are welcome but entirely optional.
